In a remarkable achievement for Everest Film Academy, the short film ‘Anta Barta- The Last Conversation’ has won the prestigious title of Best Black and White film at the renowned World Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival. The film, directed by Prashanna Mali and presented by Everest Film Academy, showcased the immense talent of the academy’s students both in front of and behind the camera.
The cast featured notable performances by Bhishma Joshi, Ashish Parajuli, Sushma Khatri Ranjit, Benija Karki, and others. The film’s assistant directors Gaurab Shrestha, Sumitra Kalikote, and Bhim Magar contributed to its success. Behind the scenes, Dikesh Khadgi Shahi and Bhuwan Rawal handled the sound, while Dheeraj Adhikari took charge of color and poster design. The makeup artist Aanamika Lamichhane added her creative touch, and the cinematography was expertly managed by Ranjan Mahat and Nirajan Sedhain. Poem by Patharyodash Pramil added another layer of artistic brilliance, and Gaffer by Dipen Khadka illuminated the film with precision.
Pranjal efficiently managed production, while James Dhakal, Rupesh Panthee, and Udit Gelal showcased their artistic talent in the art department. Shreekrishna Singh captured still photographs that perfectly showcase the essence of the film. The collaboration between Everest Film Academy and Ace Studios resulted in a cinematic masterpiece that stood out in the global film arena.
In addition, ‘Anta Barta- The Last Conversation’ was officially selected in the BIFF 2024 (Bogura International Film Festival 2024), the 11th Human Rights Film Center 2023, and several other film festivals.
This achievement comes after Everest Film Academy’s recent success at the Berlin Film Festival, where ‘Songs of Love and Date,’ directed by 5th batch student Mr. Saurav Ghimire, secured the Special Mention Award. These accolades highlight the commitment and excellence of Everest Film Academy in producing noteworthy content on the international stage.
